A clean home is a happy home

1. Mop The Floors Regularly

If you're looking for a simple trick to eliminate dust in your house, this is one to try.

Mop your floors frequently to collect the dust you left out while sweeping.

It is fundamental to brush the house, but only sweeping doesn't keep all the dust away.

Go over your floors with a wet mop and do some scrubbing if you have to.

By mopping your flooring often, you'll be able to tackle the problem of dust in your home.

2. Vacuum Frequently

Vacuum your house frequently to expel dust.

For higher efficiency, check for a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter.

Vacuum cleaners with High-Efficiency Particulate Air filters are known to remove 99% of dirt and bacteria from the air, making them ideal for the busy parts of the home like the living rooms and corridors.

3. Use an Air Purifier

If you're not sure how to get rid of dust floating in the air, use an Air Purifier.

Apart from removing odors from the air, air purifiers reduce dust.

These home appliances use fan systems that let them pull in air and trap the dust particles in a filter.

When dust particles are trapped, the air purifier redistributes the fresh air.

You can go the extra mile by cleaning those overworked air filters regularly.

4. Remove Shoes At The Door

Do you know that your shoes trap dust in varying degrees?

We can't possibly use skateboards whenever we are going out. As a result, we must leave our shoes at the doorstep, before entering the house.

If you want to see a positive difference in the dust levels of your home, make it a habit to take off your shoes at the door before entering your house.

5. Set Up Blinds Or Shades

Curtains and blinds

There's no harm in choosing roller blinds over curtains. Roller blinds won't eliminate all the dust, but they help reduce it.

Contrarily, curtains hold more dust than roller blinds. If you must use curtains, try cloth curtains.

Cloth curtains are easy to wash. Only toss them in the washing machine and see how they clean before you know it.

Roller blinds do not hold dust and are easy to take down and clean.

6. Clean the Furniture

Those sofas, stools, and cupboards in your home are big dust trappers.

To get the dust in your home under control, keep dust away from your furniture.

To prevent dust on furniture;

  • Make use of washcloths, brushes, and soapy water

  • Dip the washcloth or brush inside the soapy water and squeeze or pat till it is damp

  • Wipe smooth surfaces, table-tops, leather sofas, and counters with washcloths

  • Wipe sofas, cushions, and chairs made of cloth fabric with brushes.

7. Make Use of Doormats

Set doormats inside and outside the front and back doors of your home.

You can go the extra length by placing cleanable doormats inside or outside every room door in your house.

The practice of placing doormats in almost every corner of your home will help keep dust at bay.

8. Wash Your Bedding Regularly

I didn't mention napkins, washcloths, table cloths, or chair covers.

I mentioned beddings like pillows, blankets, comforters, and bedsheets, not because dust doesn't accumulate in other linens in the home, but because bed linens are major dust trappers.

Each time you get in or out of your bed, you unconsciously send dust particles flying.

The trick to reducing dust here is to wash your bedding once to twice a week so that when you jump in or out of your bed, you don't send dust particles swirling in the air.

9. Store Linens In A Plastic Container

Linens must include all your bedding, table cloths, napkins, sheets, and chair covers.

After washing your linens, don't just keep them in the closet. Keep your linens in plastic containers before storing them in the closet.

Storing linens in plastic containers will prevent dust from messing them up.
